Loki was always determined to be with me. I didn’t like him one bit when we met. Thankfully, he stuck by my side through chaos, insanity and suffering. Now, he gets to be with me for the rest of my life. I feel incredibly blessed.
On the topic of feeling blessed:
From May 7th - 11th I am going to be living on just $1.50 a day for all my food and drink as part of the Live Below the Line challenge. I will be using this opportunity to raise funds for Malaria No More. As long-time VAS Littlecrow visitors know,I take pride in being self-sufficient and capable of subsisting in a low-cash economy. As a forager, scavenger, hunter, gatherer and barter participant with food storage skills who lives in a part of Minnesota where wild food and generosity is bountiful, I am able to live on less than a $1.50 a day with great ease. This lifestyle is possible for us. Unfortunately, many people do not have skills or resources necessary to make this type of life possible and face the horrors of malnutrition and starvation.
$1.50 is the US equivalent of the extreme poverty line. Living on so little will give us a glimpse into the challenges faced by the 1.4 billion people who have no choice but to live below the line every day â for everything - food, medical care, transport, education, everything.I would like to ask all of my visitors to follow in this challenge and gain awareness of what it’s like to live on so little.
